About SkillPouch
SkillPouch keeps your AI coding setup the same on every computer and in every assistant: instructions, skills, agents, commands, MCP servers, hooks, plugins and assistant settings. You write an item once, and each assistant gets it in its own format and folder. Everything is end-to-end encrypted, and the whole project is open source.
The problem it solves
Every AI coding assistant keeps its setup in its own place and format: Claude Code reads~/.claude/CLAUDE.md, Codex reads ~/.codex/AGENTS.md, Gemini CLI reads ~/.gemini/GEMINI.md, and each one stores MCP servers in a different config file. With two assistants or two computers, the same instructions, skills and MCP servers get copied by hand, drift apart, and are missing on the next new machine.
SkillPouch keeps one copy of that setup, a pouch, and writes it into every assistant on every computer you connect.
Who it is for
- Developers who use more than one AI coding assistant.
- Developers who work on several computers: a laptop and a desktop, WSL, a work machine, a server.
- People who write their own skills, agents and commands and want to share them.
- Anyone who wants that setup encrypted, or on a server of their own.
How it works
- Install the command-line tool with
npm i -g skillpouchand runskillpouch login. A browser where you are signed in approves the computer. - The CLI finds the assistants in your home folder and links their folders to the pouch, kept as ordinary files under
~/.skillpouch/. Agents and commands are translated into each assistant's format; MCP servers, hooks and plugins are written into its config files. - A background sync starts with the computer. A change on one computer reaches the others within moments; a computer that was offline catches up when it is back.
- The web app at app.skillpouch.net shows every item, lets you edit and share them by link, and is where you settle conflicts.
Before anything is uploaded, files and item names are encrypted on your computer or in your browser. The server stores ciphertext and never sees your master password or Recovery Key, so nobody, including SkillPouch, can read or recover your data. See the security model.

Open source and self-hosting
SkillPouch is open source under the AGPL-3.0. The server, the web app and the docs are in skillpouch/skillpouch; the CLI, written in Rust, is in skillpouch/skillpouch-cli. The same stack that runs app.skillpouch.net can run on your own server; see Self-hosting.
Pricing
There is a free plan, and every plan has every feature. Paid plans add more pouches and storage, are sold through Polar as merchant of record, and can be cancelled any time. Current prices are on the home page.
